Adequate Decision Support Systems Must Also Be Good Learning Environments

While the existing DSS enables self-motivated learners to engage in situated, exploratory and independent learning, the addition of teaching strategies and a student model would allow: 1) Scaffolded and individualized exploitation of the overview for case-based teaching. 2) Learner motivation through selective presentation of challenging cases. 3) Active guidance on the use of integrated web-based resources for collaborative learning and knowledge sharing.
